Daniel "Dan" Knowles

June 11, 1948 - September 8, 2020

Daniel, “Dan” Knowles, 72, went to be with his Heavenly Father on September 8, 2020. Dan was born June 11, 1948 to Lila M. Smith and Charles P. Knowles Sr. in Louisville, Kentucky. He was a devout catholic and belonged to St. Raphael Catholic Church in Englewood, Florida. Dan was a graduate of the 1966 class of Shawnee High School and went on to proudly serve his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam era. He continued his education at JCC and U of L in Louisville, Kentucky. In 1975, he went to work for MSD as an inspection coordinator, where he retired in 1999. After retirement, he worked as a consultant for the State of Kentucky in the Environmental Protection Cabinet Division of Water. Dan was a loving and loyal husband to his wife, Linda and a wonderful father to his daughter, Starr. He was an avid Kentucky Wildcats fan and exhibited a true love for the thoroughbred racing industry. Also, he was a fine Billiards participant in the APA League of Pool, starting in 2007, and continued to play after he and Linda permanently relocated to Florida. Dan was preceded in death by his parents, Lila M. and Charles P. Knowles Sr., a brother Charles P. Knowles, Jr. and his beloved grandson, Devin Webb. He is survived by his devoted wife Linda Knowles, adoring daughter Starr Richardson (Brent), grandchildren Bailey Richardson, Macey Richardson, Riley Richardson and dearest great grandson Carson Richardson. Also surviving are his siblings, Peggy Pierce (Earl), Ken Johnson (Mary Lou), Cecelia Siebert (Jim) and Mark Knowles (Judy). Dan had a smile and way about him that lifted the world. He had a positive impact on everyone he met young and old, and will also be greatly missed by an abundance of beloved friends and family from near and far. Internment will commence at 1 pm Friday, October 9, 2020 with full military honors, at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Central, 2501 North Dixie Blvd, Radcliffe, KY 40160. A Celebration of Dan’s Life will follow at Elk’s Lodge #8, 2824 Klondike Lane, Louisville, KY 40218.
