Dario A. Covi

Dario A. Covi, 100, of Louisville, entered Eternal Life on Monday, July 6, 2021. He was born in Livingston, Illinois to the late Joseph and Cecilia Covi. From, 1956-1972, Dario was a professor of Art History at the University of Louisville. Upon leaving U of L, he served as the Chair of the Art Department at Duke University from 1972-1974. Dario then returned to U of L, where he once again taught and served as the curator for the University of Louisville Art Collection. During his tenure at U of L, Dario served as the Art Department Chair twice. He was also a talented and gifted painter. Dario was a World War II Army Veteran, serving his country in the European Theater. He was also a long-time member at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. He is preceded in death by his parents; and his three sisters. Carrying on his legacy are his wife of 60 years, Madeline Cundiff Covi; numerous loving nieces and nephews; and many friends and former students. Funeral Mass for Dario will be at 10 AM on Saturday, July 10, 2021, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. Visitation will be from 5-7 PM on Friday, July 9 at Ratterman & Sons Funeral Home, 3800 Bardstown Road. Burial will take place at a later date at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Livingston, Illinois. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Dario A. Covi Scholarship Fund at the University of Louisville or Hosparus. Condolences may be shared at Ratterman.com.
