Douglas Edward Spaulding

June 20, 1942 - February 19, 2022

Douglas E. Spaulding June 20, 1942 - Feb. 19, 2022 Doug Spaulding, 79, passed peacefully into eternity on a beautiful sunny day February 19, 2022. He was born to the late George W. and Mary Agnes Spaulding in Detroit, Michigan. He was also preceded in death by his brother Bill Spaulding and sister Rita Jaynes. Survivors include his brother Gene L. Spaulding (Linda), nephews Jason and Joshua Jaynes; Peyton and Jackson Jaynes, great niece and nephew; plus seven more nephews and nieces, 11 great and 5 great great nieces and nephews. Doug graduated from St. Columba Catholic School and Flaget. He became an electrician; worked at McDonnell Douglas Aircraft in St. Louis. After duty in the National Guard, he was employed at Fawcett Printing. Later he owned and operated an answering service business, retiring in 2017. Doug was soft spoken, trusting, and very generous to his family. He was also known to donate new bikes to the Boy Scouts for fund raisers. He loved spending quality time with his family. The Rite of Christian Burial will be held Friday, Feb. 25, 11am at St. Stephen Martyr Church, 2931 Pindell Ave, with a memorial visitation from 10 to 11am before Mass at the church. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery to follow the mass. The family would like to give a heartfelt thank you to St. Mary and Elizabeth hospital staff and the ICU nurses; and especially to Father Peter Bucola for his generosity and kindness toward Doug in his final days. Memorial contributions can be made to Mass of the Air.
