Edward J. "Ed" Kinberger Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Edward J. “Ed” Kinberger, 94, passed away at his home on Tuesday, April 5, 2022 surrounded by his family. Ed was born in Louisville on August 14, 1927 to the late Edward J. Kinberger, Sr. and Martha O’Bryan Kinberger. He was a 1945 graduate of St. Xavier High School where he played both baseball and basketball. During his senior year, Ed was a member of the 1945 State Baseball Championship team, contributing to the win with a .667 hitting percentage. Ed’s talent and love for sports continued throughout his life by playing baseball at Shawnee Park, coaching girls’ softball teams and watching his daughters and grandchildren play numerous sports. A lifelong Cubs fan, Ed finally was able to see the Cubs win a World Series. Ed retired from sales at John Martin Distributors. He was a Navy veteran and was a member of St. Raphael the Archangel Catholic Church. After his retirement from John Martin, he drove for the Funeral Auto Company. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Michael Kinberger, CFP. Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Dorothy Koerber Kinberger; three daughters, Sherry Eddings (Wendell), Nancy Roth (Charles) and Stacy Greive (John); 7 grandchildren, Sam and Pete Eddings, Whitney Roth Kramer (Alex), Lindsey Roth, Sydney, Jessie and Tucker Greive; 2 great-grandchildren, Luke and Molly Kramer. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Sunday at Ratterman and Sons, 3800 Bardstown Road. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10 a.m. Monday, the 11th of April at St. Raphael Church, Lancashire Avenue at Bardstown Road, followed by burial in Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the St. Raphael Chapter of St. Vincent DePaul or to St. Xavier High School Athletic Department.
