John William Holsclaw Jr. Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

John William Holsclaw, Jr., 84, entered Eternal Life Wednesday, October 20, 2021. John was born in Louisville to the late John William Sr. and Dorothy Louise Holsclaw. John was a proud west-end native of Louisville, having attended Christ the King grade school and Flaget High School, where he was part of the drum corps and marching band. After high school he would further his studies at Western Kentucky University, before taking a job as a deckhand with a regional barge company. His love for the water was buoyed and taken to new depths by his service in the United States Navy, where he served on the submarine, USS Odax 484. He would pursue a rewarding career in the construction industry, working for both the Millwright and Iron Workers Unions. He will be remembered as an incredible tradesman and the epitome of Mr. Fix It. He shared his passion of welding through his mentorship of students at the Whitney M. Young Job Corps Center. Also known to many as “Little Johnny One Note”, he served as a local DJ for Public Access Radio. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Bernard Holsclaw. Survivors include his sons, Tim Holsclaw (Jeanette Walker) and Brett J Holsclaw (Ryan Fenwick); siblings, Ronald Holsclaw, Patricia Kasey, Raymond Holsclaw (Chris Burke); grandchildren, Abigail Wolfe (Aaron), Aaron Holsclaw, and Alaina Holsclaw; and great granddaughter, Josie Meyer. Mass of Chrisitian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Tuesday, October 26, 2021, at Holy Family Catholic Church. Those in attendance are invited to continue the celebration in sharing of memories to immediately follow the Mass. Burial of his ashes will occur at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery at a later date. Ratterman and Sons, 3800 Bardstown Road, has been entrusted with arrangements.
