Mary Elaine "Peppy" Hornung Crawford Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

On Wednesday, March 23rd, 2022, Mary Elaine “Peppy” Hornung Crawford, devoted wife and mother of four children, went home to be with the Lord, her loving husband Raymond Sr., and late son Raymond Jr. Peppy was born on March 18th in Louisville, KY. Being born, raised, and passed in the good city of Louisville, KY, Mary attended, and graduated, from St. Bridget Elementary, and Holy Rosary Academy. She was a member of the Veterans of Foreign War association as well as the American Legion. In 1976, she became part of the German American Club (GAC) as a singer. Mary went on to lead the Ladies Auxiliary as President at the GAC for 20 years. In time she was regarded as an honorary member of the GAC, and still holds that title to this day. Mary had as many hobbies as she had friends, but what she favored most was bingo, volunteer bartending at the GAC, and assembling puzzles. She also enjoyed scratching lottery tickets and knew nearly every question on Jeopardy. More than anything, she loved her family and friends. Mary will leave us as a caring wife, endearing mother, and an exceptional grandmother and great grandmother. Her traditional Christmas gatherings of family carols and spaghetti with meatballs will be missed. Mary Hornung married Raymond Sr. “Pat Sr.” Crawford in the Fall of 1947 on Saturday, September 13th. The bond of Peppy and Pat Sr. stayed true for 50 years. They lived to have 2 daughters, Kathy (Dean), Michele (Vince), and 2 sons, Steve (Diane), and Raymond Jr. “Pat Jr.” (Vivian), followed by 10 grandchildren, Kelli (Ross), Ryan (Sakya), Matthew, Phillip (Hannah), Michael, Steven, Maria, Daniel, Stefany (Jason) and Doug (Tera) and 9 great grandchildren, Noah, Evan, Cole, Beckett, Vincent, Sullivan, Ays Leigh, Landon and Alyssa. Mary is survived by 3 of her children, Steve, Kathy, and Michele, but preceded by her husband, Raymond Sr. “Pat Sr.”, and her son, Raymond Jr. “Pat Jr.” Her funeral service will be held on Monday, the 28th of March at St. Stephen Martyr Catholic Church, Pindell Avenue at Hess Lane beginning at 10 a.m., followed by burial at Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. Sunday, March 27th at Ratterman and Sons, 3800 Bardstown Road.
