Phillip J. Casabella,Sr., 74, died Thursday, February 17, 2022, surrounded by loved ones at his side at Baptist Health Hospital. He leaves his wife of 56 years, Sue Schroering Casabella; his son, Phillip Casabella Jr; daughter, Gina Allen (Chris); grandchildren, Zachary Allen, Ryan Allen, Emilee Casabella & Nick Casabella. Phil’s grandchildren were his pride and joy. Born and raised in Louisville, Kentucky, the son of Anthony & Ida Casabella, siblings Tony, Richard, Rose (Fischer) & Edna (Johnson). Phil worked at Ford Motor Company for 30 years and retired in 1996. During his retirement he enjoyed his time with his grandkids, fishing, golf, handicapping the races, playing the slots, cards with friends and a good cookout. Phil was a simple man with very few words who loved his family. His famous quotes were “If you’re ok, I am ok” followed by “shoulda, coulda, woulda”. He was a great listener with a huge heart. He will be truly missed. Phil and Susie are parishioners of Ascension Church. Visitation will be Monday, February 21 from 3:00 to 8:00 pm at Ratterman & Sons Funeral Home, 3800 Bardstown Road. A funeral Mass will be Tuesday at 10:00 am at Ascension Catholic Parish, 4600 Lynnbrook Drive. Burial will follow in St. Michael Cemetery.
