Reverend Father John Lesousky, CR

August 30, 1930 - March 9, 2021

Lesousky, Reverend Father John, CR The Congregation of the Resurrection announces the death of Father John Alphonsus Lesousky, CR on March 9, 2021 from Nazareth Home, Louisville, Kentucky. He was 90 years old, in his 71st year of religious life and 64th year of ordained priesthood. Father Lesousky is predeceased by his parents Alphonsus and Lavina (nee Russell) Lesousky and brothers, Joseph, James and Michael, sisters Anna Lesousky and Ursuline Sisters Christine and Mary Lavina. He is survived and lovingly remembered by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Father Lesousky professed his religious vows in the Congregation on September 8, 1949 in Dundas, Ontario and was ordained to the ministerial priesthood on July 1, 1956 in Rome. Fr. John began his ministry as a Catholic educator at St. Mary’s College, St. Mary, Kentucky and he was named Rector of St. Mary’s in 1970. Fr. John served in various parishes staffed by members of the Congregation of the Resurrection in Louisville and Bermuda, was pastor at Annunciation Parish in Shelbyville and St. Cecilia, Louisville, Ky. He retired to Villa Pacis, Louisville, Kentucky in 1999 but continued to minister at St. Martin of Tours Parish, St. Frances of Rome Parish, and St. Joseph’s Children’s Home, for many years. He moved to Twinbrook Home, Louisville, Kentucky in 2013. He moved to Nazareth Home, Highlands in 2017. Fr. John served as a provincial councillor for 1 term and was House Superior for the Bermuda and St. Cecilia Religious Houses. Fr. John was a man of deep faith, hope and love. Father John’s life of faithful service touched the lives of his parishioners, brother religious, and family during his life of dedicated ministry. He taught many seminarians at St. Mary’s College who became ordained priests and bishops. Fr. John is especially remembered for his ever-present smile and sense of humor. We wish to express our gratitude to the staff at Nazareth Home Highlands for the compassionate care they provided to Fr. Lesousky over the past several years. Visitation for Father Lesousky will take place at Ratterman’s Funeral Home, 3800 Bardstown Rd., Louisville, Ky on Sunday, March 14, 2021 from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. The Prayer Service will be held at 6:00 P.M. presided by Deacon Denny Nash. On Monday, March 15, 2021, there will be visitation at St. Charles Parish Church, 675 Hwy 327 near Lebanon, Ky from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. followed by the Mass of the Resurrection at 11 a.m. with Rev. Gary Young, CR presiding. Interment will take place at St. Charles Cemetery, presided by Deacon Denny Nash. Donations in Fr.
