Robert "Bobby" Merritt Harris

Robert "Bobby" Merritt Harris, of Taylorsville, passed away in his sleep on March 2, 2021. He was 56. The loving father of four girls, he was a relentlessly hard worker and a skilled welder with a wry sense of humor. He graduated from Jeffersontown High School in 1983, and began his career welding soon after. Most recently, he worked for The Lyons Companies in Jeffersontown. Along with his father, Ralph, they started Harris Feeder Pigs and expanded the enterprise with a move to Spencer County in 1988. Survivors include his mother, Esther Miller Harris; significant other, Allie Harris; sister, Cathy (Doug) Fleig; four daughters, Tracy (Chris) Green, Melissa Harris, Robin (Jeremy) Dohner, Shelbie (Darby Atcher) Harris; two nephews, Jamie (Cori Clark) Fleig and Tyler (April) Fleig; and his life-long best friend, Steve Tobe. He was preceded in death by his father, Ralph "Sonny" Merritt Harris Jr. A memorial visitation will be held 4-8 p.m. Saturday, March 6, at Ratterman & Sons Funeral Home, 10600 Taylorsville Road. While the gesture is appreciated, no outside food is permitted at this time. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the American Heart Association, the American Cancer Society, or the Arrow Fund.
