Rollie Brandon Pennington
September 22, 1983 - April 9, 2022
PENNINGTON, ROLLIE BRANDON, age 38, of Louisville, Kentucky passed from this world on Saturday, April 9, 2022. Brandon lived out his childhood dreams of joining the military, more specifically, the United States Marine Corps. He proudly served our country as a Marine for 21 years. He was a career infantryman, who became a Scout Sniper, and ultimately an Infantry Weapons Officer, "Marine Gunner". During his career, CWO2 Pennington deployed a total of eight times, with combat deployments in Iraq and Afghanistan. Brandon’s achievements and outreach throughout his life, be it work-related or personal, were widespread. He was charismatic, courageous and enjoyed to share his wisdom and knowledge to anyone who was willing to listen. As a natural born leader and motivator, Brandon assisted numerous individuals in and out of the field. He was a 2001 graduate of Seneca High School. During his time at Seneca, he excelled as a participant in their JROTC program and also ran Cross Country. In his spare time as an alumnus, Brandon would return to the “home of the Redhawks” as a mentor to those who were active in JROTC. It brought him great pleasure to guide participants through a customized ‘Marine training course’. Brandon was a master of many crafts, but the roles he cherished the most were as a father, brother, son, uncle, Marine, mentor and friend. He will be deeply missed…along with his sense of humor! One thing you could always count on when conversing with or being around Brandon was to get a good laugh! Brandon was preceded in death by his father, Rollie Burnett Pennington in 2009; his maternal grandparents Mildred and William R. Kindred, his paternal grandparents, Armentress “Ment” and John “Frog” Pennington, Jr.; aunts, Brenda Anderson, Phyllis Kay Gilbert, Carol Simpson; and uncles, Terry and Jeff Kindred. He is survived by his sons, Jaxson and John Pennington; mother, Sue Kindred; sister, Lauren Pennington (David); brother, Christopher Fields (Angie); aunt, Lori Miracle (Jeff); uncles, Tom Blackburn (Nellie), Phillip Ray and Sean Pennington; nephews and nieces, including but not limited to, Elijah, Reyna, Calan, and Jadyn; as well as multiple other relatives, his Marine Corps family and close friends. Visitation for Brandon will be held on Thursday, April 28, 2022 from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.. Funeral services will take place at 10:30 a.m., Friday, April 29, 2022 at Ratterman & Sons Funeral Home; 3800 Bardstown Road, with interment to follow at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Central in Radcliff, Kentucky. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of a donation to Autism Speaks or Wounded Warrior Project. Condolences may be shared by going online to www.Ratterman.com. Brandon’s family would like to extend a special thanks to Lt. Col. Michael Carroll and the Marine Corps for their exceptional support during this time. Semper Fidelis!
