Vicky Lynn (Jones) Byrne Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

BYRNE, VICKY LYNN JONES, 69, of Louisville, originally of Adair County Kentucky, passed peacefully from this world on Saturday, December 4, 2021. Vicky was a retired first grade teacher with Jefferson County Public Schools where she also taught Reading Recovery. She was a 1970 graduate of Butler High School, she earned a Bachelors from Western Kentucky University and a Masters in Primary Education from the University of Louisville. In 1988 Vicky was the Kentucky Teacher of the Year. She was also a prior member of Shively Baptist Church and enjoyed supporting her grandchildren from the sidelines of their sporting events. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 42 years, Daniel F. Byrne, Jr.; her parents, Wallace Jones, and Alein Wade; and her step-father, George Wade. Survivors include her children, Jamie Byrne, Brian (Candice) Byrne and Andrew (Jill) Byrne; grandchildren, Daniel, Aiden, Molly, Brock, Lilly, Peyton, Gunner, Boone, and Nolan; brother, Wally Jones; brother-in-law, Steve Byrne (Merry); nephews, Jake and Zachary (Amy) Byrne; great nephews, Beau and Baker Byrne; and many close friends from social groups she was a member of, such as the Dinner Group, Bible Study, Butler Group and Edisto Group. A memorial service to celebrate Vicky’s life will take place 4 p.m., Sunday, December 12, 2021 at The Henry Clay; 604 S 3rd Street. Visitation will be held from 2 - 4 p.m., prior to services.
