William Martin Smith, Jr., 84, of Macedonia, Ohio, formally of Louisville, entered Eternal Life on Wednesday, January 27, 2021. He was born in Jacksonville, Florida to the late William Martin Smith, Sr. (Midge) and Sue Manry Raines. Martin graduated from the Richmond Professional Institute with a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education and worked for over 30 years at State Farm in Louisville, KY as a claim representative and claim team manager. After retiring, he worked for Nanz and Kraft delivering flowers in Saint Matthews and for the 2000 census in Clarksville, IN. Martin enjoyed playing tennis and table tennis, bowling, and spending time at various senior centers after retirement. He was a United States Air Force veteran. He is preceded in death by his former wife, Ann Creighton. Carrying on Martin’s legacy are his wife of 29 years, Susan Thomas Smith; daughters, Tara Kelton (Charlie) and Sarna Breen (Joseph); step-son, Brandon Walsh (Megan); grandson, Landry Kelton; step-grandsons, Nolan and Cooper Walsh; sisters, Beverly Tinsley and Carol Godell (John); sister-in-law, Carol Thomas (Jamie Cortese); and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Martin will be at 1 PM on Saturday, February 6, 2021 at Ratterman & Sons Funeral Home, 3800 Bardstown Road, with burial to follow at Cave Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11-1 on Saturday at the funeral home. For those unable to attend in person, the service will be shared on Zoom.
